You might think that I come into contact with a lot of nonprofit stories because of the field that I work in, and you would be right. A lot of the stories I find are great ones. Countless nonprofits have a knack for stellar storytelling. They’ve figured out how to illuminate their mission and the wonderful work that they do through weaving all of that good stuff into a donor-focused narrative. A story that resonates with donors and compels them to keep on giving. Something that gently pulls on the heart strings, all while speaking to something very real. Human, even.
As I (and many others) have said before, storytelling is fundamental to your organization’s fundraising. Actually, it’s fundamental to your organization’s identity, too — who you are and what you do, as well as where the donor is in all of that. For nonprofits, storytelling is an ongoing cycle. You should never stop looking for your organization’s stories, figuring out how to frame them, and, just as importantly, how to best share them. Always be on the lookout for great stories. They’re everywhere.
While finding great stories is often easier than we think, sometimes, it can be a challenge. It helps to have a resource to return to every now and then. I’m constantly adding new ones to my arsenal, and I recently added Osocio. This platform presents itself as “the best of non-profit advertising and marketing,” and they live up to their name. Osocio displays great inspirational content in an accessible way, and for that reason, they’re worth adding to your arsenal, too. Check them out.
