We’re facing some trying times in this world right now. So what should smart fundraisers be doing during the uncertain and fearful days of COVID-19?
Nonprofit leader Beth Kanter, whose expertise also spans social media, data, and networks, stopped in for our latest Motivate Monday session. In her presentation, Suddenly Remote: Creating a Virtual Culture of Well-Being, Beth provided some wise advice for the millions of nonprofit staffers who are suddenly working from home. Are you one of them?
Transitioning from IRL to virtual may seem daunting, or maybe just different. Either way, Beth knows how to bring humanity, genuine connection, and gratitude into these new situations and spaces. Her tips for trekking on amidst the ongoing crisis are sure to bring some calm and order into your life.
What do I suggest? That we help each other as best we can, lead with compassion and empathy, and that we keep on fundraising.
Yes. You heard me loud and clear. I think fundraising, right here and now, is important. And I encourage organizations to come together to develop a flexible plan to keep life in motion, while honestly communicating that yes, things are different right now.
It’s a time of great distress. You’re feeling it so chances are, your supporters are feeling it, too. So what if you could inspire them to do something positive?
When you look at it that way, it makes more sense. You’re looking for light in the darkness. You’re giving your people hope. You’re offering them an opportunity to create positive change in the world right now. And that means a lot.
Want to know how to navigate fundraising during this COVID-19 age? Take a half-hour and listen to this MoMon. Absorb it. And then go forth, reach out the best way you can, and figure out how to create your plan.
Be sure to check out (and download!) these resources from the session, too.
