When you reflect back on the best board you ever worked with, what comes to mind?
Of course, boards are wonderful. They’re a group of people who are giving unselfishly of their time and talents.
But we all know how frustrating boards can be.
So when I think back to the most effective — and, unsurprisingly most enjoyable board I’ve ever worked with, I remember the board of a smaller, Philadelphia organization.
This group of 18 individuals was kind, and supportive, always did their homework, and was always willing to go the extra mile. They gave generously of their time and talents.
They were also the most diverse board I ever had the pleasure of working with.
And I don’t think either was an accident. You can intentionally design your board and mold them into the best ambassadors for your mission. When you have the systems in place.
Board diversity matters. In this episode of MotivateMonday, Christal Cherry, principal and CEO of The Board Pro, will show you exactly how in her presentation, Make Room for Us: Changing the Racial Composition and Culture of Your Board.
Carve out 35 minutes to discover how to create a plan to find and recruit diverse board members.
