What’s in My Inbox | Nonprofit Valentines: Hits and Misses

February 14, 2024

Valentine’s Day, a celebration of love and affection, has a rich and varied history dating back centuries. Over time, the holiday evolved into a Christian celebration honoring Saint Valentine, a martyr who defied Emperor Claudius II’s ban on marriages for young soldiers. Legend has it that Valentine performed marriages in secret, leading to his eventual martyrdom. By the Middle Ages, Valentine’s Day had become associated with romantic love, with the exchange of handwritten notes or tokens of affection becoming customary. Today, it is celebrated worldwide with gifts, cards, and gestures of love, embodying the enduring spirit of romance and affection.

Of course, Valentine’s Day also provides a prime opportunity for savvy nonprofit communicators and fundraisers to connect with their supporters.

In this post, you’ll find a collection of emails that have landed in my inbox so far today. The hits and misses range from one email trying to sell me stickers, to the biggest hit of the day, a delightful true Valentine containing the video below. Click below to download the emails.
